...bliss

NEW RELIGION

sunset's music
new religion
oh, euphoric
bliss of peace

with my lover
here beside me
careless blessed
pure release

highway heaven
new nirvana
freedom from
what we once knew

no repentance
for our future
for the places
we will go

consequences
damned, discarded,
happy hearted
cause we know

though the outcome
far from certain
somehow we will
make it through

i have found my god here
smiling down on me

she has shown me things
i never thought that i would see

she made love to me today
still drunk on her wine
helps me help myself forget
the life i left behind...

supple, soft and kind...

always on my mind...

i'm so thankful
that i've found her
she's here with me,
and she'll stay

as forever
in these finite,
perfect days

fortune smiled
in my direction,
i know she'll
continue to

i have found my god here
smiling down on me

she has shown me things
i never thought that i would see

she made love to me today
still drunk on her wine
helps me help myself forget
the life i left behind...

supple, soft and kind...

always on my mind...

GREY GIRL

The grey girl hides the sorrows of the world behind her eyes.
Her sadness is a rain cloud shrouding every sunny day.
She lay in bed and contemplates the places she could try
to start anew when someday she might dare to try to run away.

oh my grey girl
oh i love her
oh i wish i was her sun

There's nothing waiting for her in the life she's living here,
toiling, trudging, tethered to a menial career.
But she knows that she's stuck here for at least another year
before there's any chance an ending could be near.

oh my grey girl
oh i love her
oh i wish i was the sun

but i know she loves me
cause she's always telling me
and i know she'll stay with me
cause she says she knows she needs me
and i'll take her with me
cause she's says it's where she wants to be
but i'll always wonder if she wouldn't rather still be free

HAND AT LEISURE

idle little hands at leisure
searching for the devil's pleasure
finding it in such great measure
can't cope with the loss
pursuit becomes the boss
rivers crossed,
bridges burned,
lessons learned
by hands at leisure

boredom in pursuit of stardom
plummetting from top to bottom
lessons and the ways we're taught them
etched into our brains
the memories of the pain
places, names,
corners turned,
wages earned
by hands at leisure

FAILING THE TEST

if i had had the forsight to see my actions have consequence
if i had known the time was coming i could have prepared
if i had had more strength of character and cared about my future
if i had known the test was coming, if i had only been aware

but sometimes something can be said
for being forced to make a change
and sometimes doors that once were open
were meant to have been closed

if i hadn't failed the test my life would probably be different
if i hadn't known that failure i might be a different man
if i hadn't lost my livelyhood i'd not have changed direction
if i can't go on as i was then i'll go on as i can

and sometimes something can be said
for being forced to make a change
and sometimes doors that once were open
were meant to've been closed
and sometimes death brings a rebirth
and makes a break from what has past
and sometimes someone's first success
was never meant to be his last

if i can make the best of what has come to be for me
if it rouses, shakes, awakens something in me once asleep
if i can take my failure and then make my future fortune
if i can forget what i have lost and remember what i keep

then i have no fear or worry what may be the course i'll take
and i can't complain or cry for choices that i could have made
because the ones i chose have led me where i am and so
the price to walk the path to where i go will already have been paid

HIS PROMISES

i'm worried; things are not so good
he hit me like he always threatened, said he would
i never thought he meant it or he even could
out of luck, stuck, even though i can't leave, i probably should

but he's not so bad
and he says he cares
and he promises
he'll take me any everywhere
and though i think i shouldn't care
i know he knows the place inside
i run to and i cannot hide
i'm living suicide
abused and bitter battered bride

controlling to the bloody end
my master; not my husband lover or my friend
blind ears without a sympathy to lend
dry tear ducts, blacked out eyes, only my early grave to tend

oh it's not so bad
oh i'll be okay
oh don't look so sad
oh he promises
tomorrow is another day
and though i think i shouldn't stay
i know he knows the place inside
i run to and i cannot hide
its like i'm dead but never died

i'm living suicide
battered, beaten, bitter bride

BORN IN 1983, (DYING EVER SINCE)

Less than human
Who's to blame
Down Depressed
It's not the same

Curse the name
that you were given
and the life that
you are living

Deaf and dumb
and almost lame

Dear distressed
downtrodden creature
Lost inside the place you live

Born in 1983
Things were better then
Never doubted
Never questioned
Never even heard of sin

Only thing to live for then
the world that you were living in

Born in 1983
and dying ever since

4 PM and
still asleep
Wishing not to wake

weep inside

smile when you must ,
feigning joy to see your lover
who you've given all your
trust all and all your future

what you've planted what you've
sewn for years and years what you've
watered with your tears what you've
prayed to be the cure lying
next to you

but you're not sure and
what's the difference anyway?

today's another rainy day.

Dear distressed
downtrodden creature
Lost inside this place you live

Born in 1983
Things were better then
Never Doubted
Never Questioned
Never even heard of sin
Only thing to live for then
the world that you were living in
Born in 1983
and dying ever since

Working

Laughable little life I'm living
giving my precious time to someone else's bottom line
Regrettable but it's fitting really
silly to think i'm waiting for a future that's not mine

Working away my days for something
burning my wages earning nothing for myself to keep
wasting my pay on drugs and drinking
faking a living sewing nothing nothing then to reep

Laughable little Death i'm dying
losing my precious time to someone else's bottom line
Miserable sitting still but really
silly to think i'm trying falling yet further behind

RESTING

The sergeant stands on boot black flat feet
And screams and calls the grunts to arms
Why I'm there, well I couldn't say
I couldn't think for all the alarms

"This makes no sense" I stood and thought
But then an air raid rarely does
So I came to my senses and prepped the defenses
So we could be ready when push came to shove

I was hoping for mercy; expecting the worst

All of the men made ready around me
All of them humans with wives and with kids
All of us seemed to be in this together
All of us soldiers -- whatever that is

Shrapnel shooting around like lightning
Ripping through everything thrown in its path
Burning and screaming and young men bleeding
Helpless before the enemies wrath

We were hoping for mercy; expecting the worst
A few of us prayed; most of us cursed

I asked the lieutenant who's bombing us
Said he didn't know and he didn't care
We'd all be dead in a minute or two
If we couldn't get somebody up in the air

The air was thick with heat and smoke
Gunshots pealed like the town clock's bells
And I stood blankly and tried not to move
And watched as the world descended to hell

We were hoping for mercy; expecting the worst
A few of us prayed; most of us cursed

It started to shower; the dark clouds rolled in
As black as the boots that we wore
We wept as we waited all huddled and wet
For the pitiful end of our war

But none of it came; it all washed away
And the clouds cut retreats and returned us the day
And the skies were as clear as the skies could have been
And none of the soldiers had one thing to say

Awaking to church bells pealing off in the distance
Did nothing to dull what I'd thought I'd experienced

ENTHEOGENIC

see sensations that i felt
manifest my lack of wealth
curse and contradict my health
just to find god in myself

chemical subliminal
contradicting my free will
seeing god; feeling ill
make it stop before it kills

there it is again
the thought within
the darkness wins
the night begins
are we all alone
are we flesh and bone
as the drug has shown
god is in
the heart of men
not sin
or hate
no soul
no weight
we control
our own fate

reaching reeling through the dark
into introspection chemical
till suspicion of the stranger
turns me in upon myself
Kiss It All Goodbye

AMPUTATION CURE

this little blue-green planet
with the carnivores and wars
we took and took until
it couldn't take us anymore

sometimes you have to chop an arm
to save the patient's life
sometimes you have to weigh the harm
against the cure and do what's right

so this is my proposal
though it's really nothing new
to save the planet's life, well
we must do what we must do

let the muslims kill the christians,
let the christians kill the jews,
let the hindus kill the muslims
(kill the godless atheists too)

let the humans kill the humans
cause we've wasted our last chance
and we'll leave what we've got left
to the roaches and the ants

nuclear holocaust fifty years hence
the table is open -- start placing your bets
who's gonna start it; how will it end
ain't armageddon as good as it gets

terrorism, jingoism, pacifism, optimism
worthless worthless worthless worthless
capitalism, communism, atheism, pessimism
worthless worthless worthless worthless

do what you want, believe what you like
it makes no difference, if you can't tell
[try really hard - don't try at all
we're all gonna end up in hell]

let the monkeys kill the monkeys
till there are none left anymore
it'll all be on the television
you know the viewers love a war

the world could use a break from us
we've wrecked it quite enough i think
the more i think about it
the more i think i need a drink

PRE-EMPTIVE DEMOCRACY

Freedom is on the march
or some nonsense like that I'm told
From my point of view
this is quickly gonna get old

It's now our duty apparently
to democratize every land
And make a Christian American
out of every infidel man

Pre-Emptive Democracy lets us make you our bitch
if you're brown and have oil and you don't speak English

Give us your oil and give us your love
or face the fate of death from above

When does it stop, you might ask?
It stops when the infidel is no more
And every mosque and ashram
have been turned to cell phone stores

This is the way the right-wing sees it
This is the way they want it to be
And the only thing that can stop them
Well I don't know what it is, but it's not me

Pre-Emptive Democracy lets us make you our bitch
if you're brown and have oil and you don't speak English

Give us your oil and give us your love
or face the fate of death from above

Never mind our pre-emptions are based on fallacies
and the Republican Right-Wing's religious philosophies
and the neo-conservatives slanted ideologies
and the blatant contradictions in our middle-east policies

Give us your oil and give us your love
or face the fate of death from above

Prepare for the Fall

air to breathe and
land to stand on
shame she can't
survive with us

an atmosphere
and gravity
and water and plants
and all that stuff

she gave us all this
and it wasn't enough

man vs nature
always has been
funny we thought
that we would win

man vs nature
no contest at all
she's gonna outlive us
prepare for the fall

we're killing ourselves
so she can live
she can't endure how we multiply

(the things that we've done to her
she can't forgive and
she's tired of our excuses for why)

top of the food chain
isn't it great
it might set a precedent but
it don't seal our fate

we over-did it
we couldn't help it
it's just our nature
that's how it is

REQUIEM FOR THE GREAT APES

Under this ground
Over ten miles down
Are the bones and machines
the garbage and dreams
of a once proud breed
of the cleverest of monkeys

With forethought and speed
they escaped from the wild
made houses and roads
and child after child
after child after child

They mastered the atom
and journeyed to space
though the story is long to tell

Suffice it to say that space survived
but the Apes didn't do quite as well

These monkeys were clever
I said it before

But clever can get an ape only so far
Before something more than clever's called for
And these monkeys let down their guard

So when the time came
when things had to be done
when the problems finally
had to be addressed

They fought and screamed
accomplished nothing
and succumbed to sleep and stress

Here lie the Great Apes
Last of their kind
They were something to see
back in their time

They over did it
They couldn't help it
[It's just their nature
You can't change what is

KISS IT ALL GOODBYE (PT. 2)

shopping malls
coca-cola
video games
climate-control
cellular telephones
dental floss
pharmaceuticals
alcohol

social constructs
thong bikinis
whoopie cushions
right and wrong
law and order
prophylactics
corporations
insipid pop songs

it was all fun while it lasted
we all knew it couldn't last
it was totally unsustainable
the past is the past and has already past

KISS IT ALL GOODBYE (PT. 3)

Here we are:

World War Three

There'll be no victories;
just defeats.

It started while we weren't looking.
When it'll end we may never know.
This is the way our race will go.
This is what happens when blow comes to blow.
This is what happens; it just goes to show

that sometimes our arguments can't be worked out
and it's in our nature to fight and shout
and kill and maim and curse and blame
the infidel for societies ills.

We won't overcome it.

We don't have the will.

Finally Girls, A Reason To Vote

If any of you cares about your future:
These woman-haters have got to go!
As President Bush himself might say
"The Lord Himself done told me so!"

I see it every time I look
Sometimes I wish I couldn't see
I always manage to find a way
That I'm better off being a he than a she

The church wants you to have babies
Every time that you make love
A baby wasted's a Christian lost
(That's the word from up above)

They'd make you have a baby
Even if it meant that you would die
A fetus is worth a woman's death
Ask George Bush to tell you why

Is it cause they can't articulate
Their hatred toward all women
That they would dare to force through law
A life that might not should have been?

That they would say that you can't choose
What you would see to bring to be
Definitively demonstrates
The ways that they disgust me

They think that you are second class
And what comes out of you is theirs
They put it in you anyway
And what you think they do not care

It might seem odd to some
This point should even be debated
And yet support for this injustice still
Continues unabated

Women aren't really people
At least not under the law
There is no equal protection
Under this fair country's law

Yes, once it was proposed,
But of course it was defeated
Lest the ministers who bought
The politicians might feel cheated

See, Republicans do not want you
To have control of your own body
It seems a mystery that a girl
Would count herself as one, to me

They'd make you have a baby
Even if it meant that you would die
A fetus is worth a woman's death
Ask George Bush to tell you why

Is it cause they can't articulate
Their hatred toward all women
That they would dare to force through law
A life that might not should have been?

They think that you are second class
And what comes out of you is theirs
They put it in you anyway
And what you think they do not care

THE WAR ON DRUGS IS A WAR ON PEOPLE

you may hear there's nothing to fear
except for fear itself
but nobody here would blame you
if you're afraid of the man as well

the straights all think it's paranoid,
but they don't know what it's like
to know that some guy with a badge and a gun
has the power to ruin your life

if you've ever touched a drug, you're the enemy
no morality in this zero tolerance travesty
in our fair country justice bows to right-wing policy
and logic takes a backseat to ignorance and fallacy

just say no to easy slogans
that say there are no shades of gray
this is your brain on the lies they feed you
they do it every day

did you know that your dealer's a terrorist?
are you willing to take that kind of a risk?
[did you know that a joint does less harm than a drink?
did you know that that's not what they want you to think?]

the war on drugs is a war on people
who need jail time less than they need help
the war on drugs will not succeed
if we lock these people up and don't give them help

the war on drugs is a war on people
who need jail time less than they need help
the war on drugs will not succeed
if we lock these people up
how can we make believe we're trying to help?

did you know that your dealer's a terrorist?
are you willing to take that kind of a risk?
did you know that a joint does less harm than a drink?
did you know that that's not what they want you to think?

if this song gets me arrested
please dear people, give 'em hell

Perpetual War Sells

war-time presidents always win
what a perfect excuse for a war
murderous hatred is really in
the hit of the season in every store

open-ended conflict is the stuff of some folks dreams
but an their motivations really be as cynical as they seem?

it looks to me like we've got a guy
who's got no business leading at all
who stumbled into a crisis
and found a scapegoat to take the fall

and now society's fabric is unraveling at the seams
because open-ended conflict is our leader's wettest dream

we're forfeiting all that we held dear
it's being gradually taken away
for a war of choice; a war with no end
where we win every battle but lose every day

but it doesn't matter what you think
if you're not with us you're against
the line's not fine - you're either
an evangelist or a terrorist

Vote Apocalypse (Good Christian Brothers)

The infidel is wrong
On this there can be no debate
We are filled with love
and They are filled with hate

The duty of the people
The duty of the lambs
Is the duty to vote for a Godly man
Who'll protect us the best that he can

Who'll protect God's unborn soldiers
And who'll wage the Lord's crusade
And who'll crush the wretched infidel
With a never-ending rage

Who'll advance the cause of morality
And fulfill our manifest destiny
For us and for our progeny
To live without fear of tyranny

from Islamists, Terrorists, Dictators, Fascists
Communists, Towel-heads, and Liberal Pacifists

Mexicans, Canadians, Them damned Europeans
Indians and Pakistans, Iraqi's, Afghanistans

We'll make a Christian Nation
Where the Lord will be the Law
Where the Sinners will find the Savior
And His Light will shine to all

Till the heathens can not help but see
the majesty of our Lord's glory
and I believe, inevitably,
fulfill the Good Book's prophecy

When every ear has heard
So then every tongue shall confess
That America is God's chosen land
and we will be duly blessed

So from my untaxed pulpit
I will issue God's decree
Vote Republican says the sacred text
and I'd say that I have to agree

G.W.B.

G.W.B. is a liar and thief
Ruined the country in his first hundred weeks
Robs from the poor and gives to the rich
Lemme tell you 'bout this son of a bitch

Son of a president, GHWB
Nothing in common with you or with me
Botched every job that he's ever had
He gets another because of his dad

Fanatical foe of gays and of women
Raiser of middle-class people's tuitions
Very best buddy of ol' Kenny Lay
Well at least that's what GWB used to say

Right well at home with the corporate swine
Visits their pigpens to suck dicks and dine
They laid you off and they're pouring him wine
As long as he gets re-elected it's fine

This isn't wrong, no not even a tad
Cause in GW's eyes there's just good and there's bad
And he's known the good Lord since he was a lad
And Saddam Hussein tried to murder his dad

So he put Saddam in a military prison
And made it out like the Messiah had risen
Yet the only real bad guy who's come at us yet
He can't seem to track down to settle the debt

So what is a leader to do but distract
It might well just work if GW could act
But he stands and he smirks at the camera and blinks
Reads his Teleprompter slow and tries hard not to think

About all of those lies that he tells with a smile
The audacity, all of the unabashed guile
That he tries to pass off as if he gives a shit
to a bunch of dumb lemmings who can't even see it

Or about all the soldier's he's sent to their deaths
And the question of who they cursed with their last breaths
Was it Saddam Hussein, or GWB
He's certainly not thinking of people like me

When he tells the whole world that God's on our side
Or he boasts about this once-great nation's pride
Because I'm losing faith in whatever system
Could twice elect a guy like him

Come to think of it, it elected him once
Appointment, I believe, doesn't count as election
We should all give our thanks to Scalia and Thomas
For proving our votes count for less than connections

Welcome to the USA
GIVE YOUR VOTE TO GWB
He'll cut your taxes to nothing
And create jobs for the military

We're a peaceful people here
We follow in our leader's lead
And we don't ask too many questions
Most of us can't even read

Your God forbid someone shot GWB
We'd all shed a tear for the man's family
He's human I guess, or so they all say
But then I'd get on with my middle-class day

He's shameful, immoral, a liar and thief
Blinded to all but religious belief
Deluded to think that he's here on behalf
of the God of Creation: DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH!
